I found this exploded view,,, but the clip is not pictured...

does the pin have a groove on it? looks like a lock that goes on the speedometer cable on the hub should work there also. i know they come in different sizes.

Tom,

There is a U style clip that goes over the rod. Im pretty sure I have one of those, I will dig it out this afternoon and you can have it!

If I can't find it, I think a "C" clip will work.

Problem solved,,, (I hope).
There was no room for a c-clip and it was a pretty tight fit.
I installed, then crimped/squashed the end with vice grips, basically mushrooming it so it wouldn't fall off.
